Galina Kurlyandskaya acted as the moderator of the roundtable discussion “Challenges for Regional Development in BRICS” carried out within the framework of the 10th Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum "Russia: Roadmap of Change"
The 10th Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum “Russia: Roadmap of Change” took place on February 14 – 16, 2013. It was supported by the Government of the Russian Federation, RF Ministry of Economic Development, RF Ministry of Regional Development and Krasnoyarsk Krai. Participants discussed strategic initiatives of the national socio-economic development for the period up to 2018 and new models of economic growth that determined institutional changes and improved quality of life.
A major focus of the forum was the roundtable discussion “Challenges for Regional Development in BRICS” moderated by Galina Kurlyandskaya. The agenda included the following items:
- Are the regions drivers of economic growth in BRICS?
- National incentives for regional economic development
- The role of the regions in the formation of national regional development policy and intergovernmental relations
- Tools of competition for development resources among regions
The discussion participants included Deputy Head of the Analytical Center at the Government of the Russian Federation G.G. Pokatovich, Deputy Minister of Economy and Regional Development of Krasnoyarsk Krai D. A. Maslodudov, First Secretary of the Embassy of India Bandaru Wilsonbabu, Professor of the University of Rome Tor Vergata Gustavo Piga, and National Secretary of Indian National Congress Dalbir Singh.
Having discussed a range of issues relative to the effectiveness national regional policy in BRICS, the roundtable participants drafted recommendations to the RF Government.
