On May 22-24, 2012, CFP Director General Galina Kurlyandskaya took part in the Fifth Economic Forum that took place in Astana.


During the forum, the sixth meeting of the permanent conference of finance ministers from the CIS member states was organized by the Finance Ministry of Kazakhstan. The CFP and the Eurasian Development Bank presented a report devoted to the “Risks for public finances of the CIS member states in the light of the current global instability”.


The report analyzes the key external macroeconomic challenges and assesses their impact on the economy and financial systems of the CIS countries. It determines the conditions for sustainability of their fiscal systems, indicates preventive fiscal measures as well as measures to mitigate the impact of the crisis in the CIS countries due to global macroeconomic risks. The report was met with great interest and highly praised by the participants.


Apart from the CIS finance ministers, the meeting was attended by Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank Igor Finogenov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Kelimbetov, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Min Zhu and others.
